    Louisa McElwain was a plein-air Impressionist painter whose favorite subjects were her
    native New Mexico sky and landscape. Dramatic use of textured impasto is a signature
    feature of her work. McElwain received her BFA degree from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. Her work is in many private and corporate collections which include the Tucson Museum of Art, AT&T, Pepsi-Cola, Nokia and the University of Pennsylvania. Presented here is a large and impressive example of her artistry depicting the rolling hills surrounding the village of Santa Clara Pueblo, New Mexico.
